Callaway Discovery Center

Virginia Hand Callaway (1900-1995), co-founder of what was originally called Ida Cason Gardens, was passionate about connecting man with the natural world. Her legacy continues at this beautiful facility that bears her name. Nestled in a wooded environment on the edge of Mountain Creek Lake, the 35,000-square-foot facility is the logical starting point for your tour of Callaway Resort & Gardens.

In the main lobby, an information area with a knowledgeable staff and interactive kiosks provides an overview of the Gardens’ past and present. The Discovery Center also houses an auditorium, art exhibits, an education wing featuring our Crawleseum, and the Discovery Gift Shop. Outside is the MEGA BUGS Exhibit, TreeTop Adventure Zip Lines, Vaughn-Jordan Backyard Wildlife Habitat Garden, the Discovery Café, and the Discovery Amphitheater, where you can experience our Free-Flighted Birds of Prey Shows.
