September – Monarch Butterflies & Migration
Date: Thursday, September 17
Time: 1:00–2:30 pm
Location: Meadowlark Picnic Area
Follow the monarch butterfly’s incredible journey across North America! Learn about the butterfly’s life cycle, from egg to adult, and discover how they navigate thousands of miles to reach their wintering grounds. Find out how you can help protect monarchs through pollinator gardens and citizen science.
October – Nocturnal Animals
Date: Thursday, October 15
Time: 1:00–2:30 pm
Location: Discovery Center
As the sun sets, a whole new world wakes up! Learn about bats, owls, and other creatures of the night. We’ll explore how nocturnal animals use their senses—like echolocation, night vision, and keen hearing—to hunt and stay safe after dark. Step into the night side of nature and uncover its secrets.
November – Habitats of Georgia
Date: Thursday, November 19
Time: 1:00–2:30 pm
Location: Discovery Center
Georgia is home to an incredible variety of habitats—from mountain forests to coastal marshes. Explore what makes each region unique and how plants and animals are specially adapted to live there. Through maps, specimens, and activities, we’ll celebrate the amazing biodiversity of our home state.
December – Evergreen vs. Deciduous Trees
Date: Thursday, December 17
Time: 1:00–2:30 pm
Location: Discovery Center
Why do some trees stay green while others shed their leaves? Learn to tell the difference between evergreens and deciduous trees by examining needles, bark, and cones. We’ll explore how each type survives winter and take a closer look at how trees change with the seasons.
Currently all sessions are full, to join the waitlist, please email Carly Zikeli at czikeli@callawaygardens.com and include the dates you would like to attend and the number of students who will be attending. Spaces are limited to 50 students per session, and we encourage early registration.
